Volunteer & Work options in
South America

Whilst in South America I had the enjoyable experience of tutoring English to University Students in Puerto Montt, Chile. This 3 week role was on an unpaid basis to help out students before their final year exams. I received free dinners for my tutoring - a great deal! Strictly speaking I should not have been 'working or volunteering' on my tourist entry stamp.

On my next trip to South America I'm investigating doing an approved Volunteer or Work Program.

Volunteer & Work programs in South America are varied.

English teaching is the most common paid employment (TEFL graduates). Volunteer work is varied depending on your skills and area of interest. Examples include helping care for orphan monkeys in Bolivia, Bird species research in Ecuador and Archaeological programs in Peru.

You need to investigate current options with a Travel Operator that specializes in Volunteer and Work Programs.

A fellow traveller highly recommended this Volunteer program (Sports Coaching) she recently undertook organised by this website. Click into their site if you are interested in Volunteer and Work options.
